Those spidery crabby things I think were meant to be pycnogonids (aka sea spiders). They are sea floor dwelling creatures and can be found up to 6000 - 7000 metres down. They live off sea sponges and slugs and devour them through a straw-like proboscis.

They are an excellent example of the wonders of the deep sea. Do a Google search for "pycnogonids" or a Google image search for more pics (some pics are under the search term "pycno").
