Is This Even A Sequel!?

So supposedly this is a sequel to the 1999 movie "Inspector Gadget" But this doesn't even seem like a sequel at all, maybe to the cartoon but certainly not the movie, for example:
*NONE of the main cast returned
*Brenda just disappeared completely and Gadget was supposedly created by some guy
named Baxter.
*Gadget is never referred to as "John Brown", Penny calls him Uncle Gadget throughout the entire film.
*Claw is never mentioned by name, just Claw and his face is covered.
*The gadgetmobile's colored reversed, he used to be white with purple interior, now its purple with white interior.

So yeah, If it wasn't called "Inspector Gadget 2" I would have never guessed this was a sequel to the movie.

The only thing that's the same in both movies in the Gadgetmobile, though in Inspector Gadget's Last Case and Inspector Gadget's Biggest Caper Ever, the Gadgetmobile did talk.

I'm a 14 year old hormone-crazed teenager and I'm proud! lol

They fixed most of the things that were WRONG with the original.

If only they'd done it first time round, and not brought the gadget mobile back for the sequel.

This film is much better than the original, even as an eight year old I hated it, it was too - I dunno I'd have to watch it again, but I enjoyed this one so much more because it is more like the cartoon and rights the wrongs of the first film. Such as identity and Uncle Gadget and never seeing Claw, etc.

Plus it was shot here in Australia so that's awesome

That is all.

they mention what happened to your high rising head quarters and DR claw says when Gadget arrested him, the police confiscated all his assets.

Despite this movie being called Inspector Gadget 2, it's not really a "true" sequel in the sense.

NONE of the original cast returned, and the movie had almost no ties with, or references of, the first movie.

Personally, I think of Inspector Gadget 2 as a stand-alone movie that tried to be more faithful to the cartoon.

I do not think it's better than the first movie though. I am well-aware of how this film follows the cartoon series more closely. However, I was not a HUGE fan of the show to begin with. I liked the first movie's slightly more serious and darker tone, mixed with comedy.

Inspector Gadget 1 is a movie that kids, teens, and adults can watch and enjoy. Inspector Gadget 2 mainly feels like a children's film specifically, and not too many teens or adults can really enjoy the film, unless they like campy movies.

I noticed some references to the original. The car, no origin for Gadget, no mention of why Claw was in prison, and Claw has the same metal hand thing, rather than glove like in the cartoon. But I agree this felt more stand alone than it did a sequel.
