He was the man who's statue was being carried away by the helicopter. He was the father of the Soviet Union.

Have you ever studied History?

He was Beatle.

reply

He is the new boyfriend of Paris Hilton!?

reply

I am the walrus.

reply

Here's another clue for you all:
The walrus was Paul.

reply

shut the *beep* up, donny

reply

Shut the *beep* up Donnie!

reply

[deleted]

Correct. George Lenin is the Beatle who used to be known as Ringo.

reply

That was John Lennon.

reply

That was John Lennon.

reply

This takes the award for the most stupid thread.

reply

be nice = not everyone is familiar with history than you are. its a perfectly reasonable question.

reply

Not knowing who Lenin was, like not knowing Hitler or Napoleon, is one of those things that one can't justify by poor knowledge of history. It's more likely that the OP is a mere troll.

reply

Who's Hitler?? :/

reply

He's the guy who shot Hitler.

reply

Isn't Hitler the President of the U.S.? I thought I heard Glenn Beck say that on the teley.

reply

[deleted]

no no no it's not. it would be a reasonable question if he asked who Trotsky was or someone not as well-known as Lenin. it is ridiculous, pathetic and inexcusable to NOT know who Lenin was.

reply

It's unlikely someone could live long enough to appreciate Goodbye Lenin! and not to have heard the name of Lenin. Otherwise, the ignorance of one or one billion of people is not abysmal... Who can tell me here what are the main differences between Marx's doctrine and Lenin's? And unless everyone who responds to my message tells the right answer, I can ask myself if it is really that important that you must know the names and not what they really mean. Like bashing communism on account of fragments of distorted truth.

reply

To obi_gui - not knowing who Lenin is is definitely not the same as not being able to tell the main differences between Marx's and Lenin's ideas. The former is a simple answer; the latter could be a whole book. It's like not knowing who Beethoven is points toward quite a show of ignorance. But not as many people could tell the difference between the styles of Beethoven and Mozart.

To the poor person who started this link - the discussion was very entertaining, so thank you! But since you know how to use the computer, next time google something first! I feel bad for you....

reply

I hope this is a joke.As the previous poster said, noone expects to write an essay on Lenin's ideas. But never heard of him ? On the other hand, you know Paris Hilton, don't you ? I still don't know myself who she is . I mean she is a celebrity for being ..a celebrity ?

reply

What do Lenin and Paris Hilton have in common?

The world would be a better place if neither of them had been born.

reply

well actually my world wouldn't have been better! thanks to Lenin, Finland became independent in 1917!

reply

I stand corrected, chalk one up to Lenin. :)

reply

Stupid Americans....

McCarthyism succeeded it seems....

reply

To any person who does not know who Lenin was- then you have no business watching this movie! Go watch a Jason Statum movie or Pirates of the Carribean flick at that!

reply

Were you seriously looking for an answer? If so, I can tell you that the most important ideological difference between Marx and Lenin was that whilst Marx believed that the socialist society was the inevitable and natural product of the evolution of human society, which would progress through several phases, the penultimate being capitalism and the last being socialism, Lenin believed that socialism could be imposed through revolution on 'pre'-capitalist societies (assuming the Marxist evolutionary model) such as Russia's at the time of its revolution. Had Lenin been a true Marxist, he'd have supported the White faction, and never expected to see communism during his own lifetime.

Given that world history has proven time and again that no free people will never accept socialism of either hue, and that it can only be perpetuated through repression, it's safe to conclude that both theories were total bollocks.

reply

[deleted]

Fair enough, but he might well have supported even the Whites if he believed they were going to instigate capitalism.

reply

im terrible at history too, but i know lenin!!!!as i know hitler, mao, stalin blah blah blah....unless the OP is a 6-year-old there is no excuse for being so ignorant and not knowing who lenin is-was actually!and even if he/she had no idea about lenin just by typing his name in google the OP would easily find out some basic things about him.

message to the OP: i suggest you dont ask this question in public...

all i can do is be me.whoever that is.-bob dylan

reply

It's actually shameful that someone out there does not know who Lenin is, or what he symbolises. You shouldn't have to study history to know who is was, that should be common household knowledge, I really hope we don't allow idiots to vote in the future coz if we do we are all screwed. I suspect the OP is joking (at least I hope they are).

reply

First I thought, that it was a joke question :D

reply

I love this thread.. it rocks???

reply

Unfortunately, the OP started/ wrote on only one thread! :(

Yes, I checked... hoping for more entertainment. :)

reply

Seriously man, you really do not know who Lenin is? Please read a bit of history. Anyway i will give you this quote from the Big Lebowski to help you.

The Dude: It's like what Lenin said... you look for the person who will benefit, and, uh, uh...
Donny: I am the walrus.
The Dude: You know what I'm trying to say...
Donny: I am the walrus.
Walter Sobchak: That *beep* bitch...
The Dude: Oh yeah!
Donny: I am the walrus.
Walter Sobchak: Shut the *beep* up, Donny! V.I. Lenin. Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov!
Donny: What the *beep* is he talking about, Dude?

reply

He remember Obama. He dreamed with a better world for the people and hoped for the CHANGE.

reply

hopefully by now you know who Lenin was.
Freakin' idealist who made people crawl in blood for years in the Civil War and because of him my country was stuck within communist regime for 70 years.
Yeah, he changed something. He did hope for the better, though.

reply

Lenin was quite good only after he died stalin took over and that didn't help much. Lenin knew that stalin was a man to be afraid of but he couldn't find a good succeeder before he died.

reply

In what sense was Lenin good? Lenin wanted to keep the power the Bolsheviks gained and was quite prepared to use terror to keep it. The only difference between Lenin and Stalin was that Stalin had longer to practice terror. I'm quite sure that had Lenin been spared (!) the numbers of dead attributed to him would have equalled Stalin's.
