don't confuse fanatics with christians

I just finished watching this film, and the people in here are fanatics. I am personally not very religious, but I have friends that are and they are nothing like this. In fact, where I live (and it is a Big City), religion is very prominent, and the people here are NOTHING like those in this film.

So for everyone out there saying "another example of Christians" or "wacky Christian thinking", keep in mind by saying that you are no different then the people in this film you are so quick to judge.

Again, I am not a religious person, but I am just getting sick when everything is termed "The Religious Right" as if being Christian makes one an instant wacko.

With that said, this movie was interesting and well handled, but was just dreadfully boring.

I agree with you. My family is all Christian (I'm still getting into it) and they're not at all like in this movie.

I hate to burst your bubble, but being a Christian DOES make one an instant wacko.....

All Christians are not fanatics. I watched this with a large group of Christian college students - and we found it as fanatic as non-religious people did. Some people go to far. Not all Christians.

You give me joy that's unspeakable, Jesus I am so in love with You

Yeah, the whole "being in love with your god" thing has always creeped me out a little, along the same line as nuns being "married to jesus."

And you're absolutely right, being christian does in fact automatically make you a wacko, you just might not be a wacko to the same degree as another wacko. For instance, someone diagnosed with clinical depression is not the same degree of crazy as someone diagnosed with schizophrenia. But they both have serious problems.

Hell House is awesome though - mad as a march hare, but awesome all the same. I like it because it's unapologetically judgmental. Say what you want about the actual beliefs, I applaud anybody willing to out on a limb and say what they really believe. The kids that put this stuff on have to know people are laughing at their oddball strains of logic disguised as "sin," but they do it anyway, as well they should.

If you're going to be a christian, don't be some mamby-pamby cafeteria christian that only picks out the nice elements of christianity - the parts that fit into your life already - embrace your insanity for this cult of jesus! That or abandon it already and live life for yourself. Your choice.

The people of Hell House push a "Christianity" that is driven by hate and fear. That isn't something I want to be associated with and it makes me embarrassed to share a religion with them. The "Jesus" that these people love isn't the same Jesus that I love. Jesus gave us two commandments: love God, and love your neighbor... He didn't say to judge your neighbor, or to scare your neighbor, or to lecture your neighbor, or to condemn you neighbor, he said to love them.

Instead of spending so much time and money on a haunted house, these people should be focusing on feeding the poor, tending to the sick, and visiting prisoners. Those are things that Jesus asked us to do.

Witty closing remarks have been replaced by massive head trauma and severe hemorrhaging.
