The Video Zone

ok here's something ive been wanting to know for years. anyone who's been a contestant on the show and made it to the final AKA the video zone...what EXACTLY did you guys see and hear while in there? i can imagine it was a green/blue screen room but how did you know when to jump/duck enemies and projectiles and touch items?
