Rob? Julia? - Is there anybody out there?

I just loved "remains". I think you two are very talented and deserve great fame and fortune.

Any plans to make another six?

i can't beleive this is the only thread for this excellent show, i love human remains but it's never on the TV anymore. i hope they make more episodes.

favourite episode: the one with the welsh guy with blonde hair and his pregnant girfriend.

"this is not nam dude, this is bowling, there are rules."

I love the one with the Welsh couple, especially when he flings her around and makes her hit herself!

First time I've posted on these boards but I just wanted to note I went out and bought a dvd player I knew I could hack the region code on (I'm in the states) specifically so I could own Human Remains on dvd (granted now I own Jam, That Peter Kay Thing, Leauge of Gentlemen, Big Train, Black Books & plenty of other region 2 dvds) but Human Remains is the reason. I don't think there are words to describe the genius of this series, or nighty night.

The episode with the Welsh guy and his Northern girlfriend is THE funniest thing I have seen in ages!

Julia Davies is a comedy goddess!!!!

Beef: The DVD you got was Region 2 - and can often be hacked (ridiculous system set up by the DVD Empire - have to say) - but it no doubt is only in PAL - how did you get a TV in the US to play PAL? They are 99.99% only NTSC.

reply

Actually almost all American TVs will play PAL DVDs on a multi region DVD player. The idea that an NTSC TV won't play a PAL DVD on a multi region player is a myth.

BTW< Human Remains is one of the best shows out there.

Sorry - there are almost NO US TV's that will play PAL!!!!!!

I have never even found a US TV salesman that would know what one is talking about - except maybe the snob shops

The only way to solve it is to get something like Philips 642? which has aregion hack poss and an NTSC PAL conversion

The person writing that this has somehow lucked out and found the one in 10,000 that would accept PAL

If there are more pls list 5-6 off the shelf regular TVs here and help people

reply

No, I have three different DVD players that are all hacked to be multiregion. They all play any PAL DVDs and they work on any of the three TVs in my house and any of the dozen or so other TVs I've tried them on, i.e. friends houses. I didn't luck out by any means. Any PAL DVD (of the 100 or so that I have) works on any multiregion player on any American TV. You don't need a converter, just a hacked DVD player.

There's no point arguing

You have COMPLETELY different experience from me and dozens and dozens of people and dozens and dozens of TVs that have been tried over the last years

So let's just leave it at anyone having difficulty - to please check their TV's compatibilty with PAL - even uif they have a hacked player

Just for your info we tried to play a region 2 in a known hacked DVD - actually it was an out of the box Apex region free - LAST night in a rented condo in Traverse City - and NO DICE!!! Just jumbled pic!

Philips DVP 3040

Cyberhome CH-DVD 300 (less than $20.00 on eBay)

...when hacked, will play on any American TV. Try them out.

ok!!!

glad we continued - reason they play is that the dvd unit is providing the pal to ntsc conversion!

there are many hackable dvd units that dont do that

and what happens is you come out with region 2 pal and there are VERY VERY few 'sold in USA' tvs that will understand pal

in contrast almost every 'sold in EU' tv will understand ntsc

so what has happened with 'my people' is that they had dvd units tht didnt have pal to ntsc - evn tho they had solved the region problem
