Its just a movie!

Everybody just chill. It is a movie based off of a book. In my opinion, the movie was not that bad apart from some plot holes that I didn't really care too much about. The acting was pretty solid especially from Michal Zerbowski, who was pretty badass. Although I would like to read the books, none of them were released in the US, at least none in english. But with all that put aside, it is a decent flick.

Unfortunately they've not been translated into English yet (but people are working on it), just the slavonic languages (and some of the books into Spanish, French and German). For the time being, one should check the TV series 'Wiedzmin' which appeared about a year later. The movie version is actually just various scenes from the series assembled together and don't make much sense. This is because the director and the writer who adapted the books had a quarrel about how much of original story should there be, and finally the movie didn't have ANY real story. Bad shame. The series however, while it still spoils a great story (the scenario writer's vision is simply outrageous in places), at least makes sense and is quite well made, and a FEW of the episodes which REALLY follow the books, are kindof excellent.

That's right, I think the people who happened to have read the book expect too much. The movie is not a part of the novel, it is an independent story (based on the novel) and does not have to follow the book in every detail. The acting is convincing, the storyline interesting... what else do you need?!

I agree, and would also add that the movie gets better with the 2nd viewing.

Don't bother seeing the film... it is basically a pourly-made, nonsensical trailer for the miniseries - apparently someone thought they'd make way more profit that way ))))

PS the miniseries was rather good, however, and is worth the viewing time
