Someone send Witcher book to Peter Jackson, please

The movie would be terrible and beautiful. Sapwkowski has spoiled the fun of fantasy with his genius books. Please make a PROPER movie. Now.

Peter Jackson? No way, send it to Mr.Snyder or Mr.Nolan, they'd do it justice.

I have conflicted feelings about how I would like a new movie adaptation to be handled: in a way, I think the Witcher is so inherently Polish that I wouldn't like an English language film (I'm totally unable to play the games in anything else than Polish as well). I also think a big movie franchise meant as a box office hit would water/dumb down some of the most scabrous elements (rape/incest etc..) On the other hand, if it were to be done in Poland again, I fear it may turn out to be as cheap as this one. Maybe a Polish language co-production with the USA would be the best solution, although unlikely. And -maybe- it should be a TV show rather than a movie series: that would allow them more time to flesh out the characters and they wouldn't have to make it too politically correct, as you often get more freedom on TV.

I think the Polish Jerzy Hoffman, noted for his brilliant historical epics/Sinkiewicz adaptations from the 60's-70's might be the right man for the job, although he's in his 80's now (maybe he wouldn't commit himself to something so exhausting) and his latest works haven't been on par with his earliest ones. His "Army of Valhalla" was protagonized by Żebrowski. So was "With Fire and Sword" (and the Ukrainian villain Bohun was voiced by Jacek Rozenek, games Geralt).

Perhaps a midterm solution would be an English spoken Polish co-production with the USA and/or UK and/or other countries, by a renowed Polish director, featuring a plot based on two short-stories from the first book such as, for example, "The Witcher" and "The Lesser Evil". This way, you can either have a genuine point of view of The Witcher from someone native to it, without dumbing down anything, as well as reach a larger audience worldwide with an English speaking cast, but only featuring an introductory development of Geralt and his internal drama of being a witcher, without commiting to immediately present the actual story of Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer, so that you don't need to afford a huge budget with several visual effects, CGI and other heavy action sequences at the same time that it can become a successful box office, captivating the audience, the critics and even the big hollywood dogs to demand a further sequel, be it as another movie or maybe a more polished TV series.

But wait, there is such a production going on at the hands of Tomasz Bagiński, who got an Oscar nomination for one of his works and was very close to The Witcher games!
