Not a terrible film, but the music...

Am I the only one that found it incredibly hard to watch because of the terrible music? I can honestly say this film had the worst score I've ever heard.. The music alone brought it down 3points for me..

Thelast sword fight was sweet though.

I agree in that I found myself wondering how many times they can play 'close to you' in an hour and a half. Never thought I'd ever hear that song in a Hong Kong action movie.

I agree with the sword fight too.

reply

I was not impressed. Although the actresses were cute and the action was okay, the story just sucked. And the music. What an annoying song.

reply

Seriously. It felt like they played that song every 15 minutes during the movie. grr

reply

Maybe this movie was trying to singlehandedly revive Carpenters music sales. *Someone* bought a Carpenters CD because of this film; I am sure of it.

Were you watching the same movie? I thought the score was great. The music alone brought the show up at least 3 notches. In fact, I might go to Virgin Records and search for the soundtrack CD tomorrow. Just dig the contrast between "Close to You" and the action on the screen...made it so surreal!
And I am so glad that they did not include just a whole bunch of "heavy metal screeches" and "tech bop" in the show!

reply

I must agree with the first post.
Although I like this movie very much, though mostly because of
the 2 hot sisters (the cop is sooo ugly), but the musical
score was very....hum...bad.
Uneffective.
The only music that felt ok was the first music in the music shop
before Su passes the headset to that ugly cop.

reply

Omg, how can you say that. Its a great movie and the music goes well with it, i agree that the song so close is played many times but i thought it was pretty catchy ha ha.

yea the last battle was awesome. ^^

reply

"Close to You" was Ok but the other music, during fight scenes?! That was awful. It kept on repeating over and over. The song during the end credits, I think Karen Mok(the cop) sang that?

reply

i love the score myself, i thought the carpenters music in the beginning was awesome, it was like she just murdered someone, she's killing people to get out, and they're playing such a beautiful song, it made it seem like the whole scene was beautiful. very nice in my opinion.

reply

I totally agree. I'll never think of the song `Close to You' in the same way again, as Quentin Tarrantino did for `Stuck in the Middle With You' in his movie `Reservoir Dogs'.

I thought the Music was excellent. I loved the music right at the start where Lynn had made the glass explode and it was flying around. That was Amazing and really added to the scene.

reply

It sounded like they stole the music from Metal Gear Solid or some other video game. The music sucked.

reply

I agree with haden-1. The music was excellent. I was really hoping for it to be at the ending credit too...

reply

I quite digged the music in some places, however at times, it did interfere with the main action scenes, almost as bad as tomb raider in that department, But hey the girls are cute!

reply

Hate the music? Crank up the subtitles, switch on the mute. Solution. Way more watchable.

reply

I agree that the music was terrible, but the problem wasn't the Carpenters, the problem was the score. It sounded like those bad music-library CDs that they take clips from for low-budget TV commercials.

I love the film but the annoying piano music they play over every mildy dramatic scene was beyond a joke. I ended up just laughing at it. Still love this flick though.

Actually, I did like the music in the fight in the car park.
