Language barrier

As entertaining as the idea of time travel is, it wouldn't be possible for just anyone to travel that far back. The change in syntax would make it impossible for anyone but an expert in the middle English language to communicate with the locals. Just try reading Shakespeare sometime and you'll see what I mean. And that's 200 years later. The problem was solved in the book, but they completely ignored it in the movie.

And in 1357 most of the French knew English and would speak it once they know you are the "good" guy :-)

Actually most of the English lords spoke French

They actually address it in the book. The scientists wear earpieces that translate for them and Marek speaks Occitan which is one of the languages spoken at the time. The movie ignored it, but the book makes a point that modern English and French have changed.
