Funny enough, I loved the original but didn't know that they were going to film a sequel. I arrived here (Glenmore, Sout Coast, Kwa-Zulu Natal) on holiday yesterday, and went for a stroll on the beach this morning, only to discover the crew building a set on the beach 100m from our holiday resort for BC2... I'll take some photos of the set and of the filming when they start here in a few days and post to my FaceBook account...
John

Once I get back to the office, I'll post better images from my proper camera.
All the best

Which will pose the question : have the original audience hung around for nine years? Because this doesn't seem like the type of film aimed at people who have a deep longing to remember their cinema-going experiences.
"And no regrets?"
K, so i havn't read all the posts. Forgive me if this has been asked. I'm using my phone..its so slow!
R they makin a sequel without bosworth or michelle? I've looked and thats what it sounds like. I hate when they do that.
Not that i thought either would do a sequel to it. Admittedly, i do love the original. Really love it.
When the movie first came out, I rolled my eyes and rented a horror movie. Now, nine years later, I've rediscovered it, watched it and loved it. My interests have changed, and it has a new fan in me now. I would love to see a sequel, original cast or not, as long as surfing is still the heart of the movie.

Fair enough. Are you a surfer? Cos that seems like a niche crowd to do a sequel to a big glossy mainstream drama.
Incidentally, do you like Point Break? That film is very easy for people to make fun of as a silly action movie, but in terms of an examination of male thrill seeking, it's actually a bit more interesting than that.
"I've already let the right one in. Why would I let you in?"
I'm not a surfer... yet, haha, but I love watching surfing, and I love the whole working with nature rather than against it aspect of it. I've never been into competitive sports, so the idea of it just being you against the waves, while still needing to hone a certain amount of skill to do it well is very attractive to me. I plan on taking lessons when I move out near the coast this summer.
As for it being for a niche, why not? They have movies for everything these days: football, baseball, hell even step dancing and field band have their own movies now. Why not surfing?
I've never seen Point Break, sorry. Horror's good for me, but action makes me yawn. Male thrill seeking isn't really my bag, either, so I'll probably give that one a pass.
(Especially if it's anything like the Transporter or Crank movies.)

Direct to video is not a real sequel. Why bother?
