Authenticity of Blue Crush

I love Mika Boorem, and she's a talented actress, but her character in this movie does not seem like a girl who actually grew up in Hawaii surfing. Michelle Rodriguez is even worse in this regard, and doesn't strike me as a local surfer girl at all.

Other than this Sanoe Lake and Kate Bosworth both have me convinced they are local surfer girls from Hawaii, and I have to give credit for making a mostly-authentic movie about Hawaii and surfing. I loved that they used so many locals and real surfers in the film instead of actors.

Blue Crush is one of my favorite movies actually. It's just such a fun feel good movie, and it does a fair job of capturing the authenticity of surfing and Hawaii.
