Why is 'LESBIANISM' one of the
plot keywords?! I seen this movie a few times and I cannot remember any lesbians?
anyone have any ideas as to why "lesbianism" is the first plot keyword on this page?

maybe because of michelle rodriguez? lol
sharewere you not watching the movie? beacause Anne, Eden and Lena we're lesbians. Eden got jealous when anne starting dating. And when Anne says no to matt about going up to his hotel she says "i need to get back to my side of the island if you know what i mean?"
shareActually I see no proof of them being lesbians, not that it makes a difference. Besides if AnneMarie were a lesbian, why is she dating a guy?
Anyway, she said that about going back to her side of the island because she feels like she is from the wrong side of the tracks, and has to get back to her reality, which does not include fancy hotels
She was bi, sorry not a lesbian. And Eden completely had a thing for Anne she was mad at her for more reasons than just the competition.

When Anne Marie said she has to get back to her side of the island, she literally means that, because that hotel is on the west side of Oahu, around 45 minutes drive away from where the girls live and surf. There isn't any hidden meaning here.
However Michelle Rodriguez's character was a "dyke with a crush" according to Michelle on the DVD commentary. It's somewhere around the scene when Anne Marie is in the ocean with Matt, and Michelle screams, "We're leaving!"
Michelle's character wears men's swimming trunks instead of bikini bottoms. Michelle's character also seems to have a thing for Anne Marie throughout the film. Anne Marie gives Matt the cold shoulder when he is asking her for surfing lessons, but later she relents to his advances.
Michelle Rodriguez is gay in real life. So is Keala Kennelly who plays herself in this movie.
On the Blue Crush DVD cover, Michelle Rodriguez has her arm around Sanoe Lake in a seemingly gay way. Michelle's lesbianism really shines right here. See link: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2610470656/tt0300532
Other than that, I don't think there is any implied lesbianism in the movie. There's no sign that Michelle's character is actually in a relationship with any of the other girls. Especially since the other girls show interest in boys in the movie. But with two lesbian characters, and a female protagonist, it does make it a lesbian-interest movie nonetheless.
Actually now that you mention it that there is a strong thing going on between MR and KB. MR acted like a spurned fat chick when KB blew her off for some man action.
shareThe movie isn't about lesbians. . my best guess why its tagged that is Michelle Rodriguez is gay.
shareI've always thought michelle rodriguez was gay too
shareThree 4 girls living together wearing bikinis the whole time, how do you not get the idea of lesbian?
Maybe ones bi..
Doesn't matter. They weren't lesbians.
I'm all alone
No one was sent to get me
I'm all alone
No one got left here
-Cold (No One)
Maybe they lived on the beach in Hawaii?
shareI think the lesbianism refers to the real female surfers like Keala Kennely or something ...
shareJust about anyone can update the plot keywords. It may be just someone's prejudice against girl surfers.
shareThere is not one moment where I thought any of the characters in the film are lesbians.
Whether any of the actresses are lesbians shouldn't be included in the plot keywords.
Can we try with real bullets now?
It may be an unfair assumption to the film, but there is definitely a strong lesbian vibe I picked up on with one if not more of the characters in the film.
I think honestly it adds to the film. It is making a point about women and surfing and breaking stereotypes.
Did anyone not see M Rodriguez' character blatantly checking out K Bosworth's character's butt when the latter was in the kitchen making a sandwich?
sharethere's three hot girls walking around in bikinis the whole time... men aren't the only ones who'd enjoy watching this if you catch my drift
the movie has lesbian undertones given by the lesbians who watch it
