she hires a cab and they head for destinations unknown, unchartered. morvern wants away from the heady hurlyburly of the artificial rave scene of the touristy cities and into more untamed natural beauty.

they end up lost in mountainy woods. lanna gets pissed, preferring the activity and nightlife. morvern likes the solitude.

they part ways. morvern ends up at a beachside resort toute seule and finally establishes contact with boddington (publisher).

tom plus one show up and they discuss numbers with morvern on this, her remarkable achievement of a first novel.

morvern's dumbfounded, ecstatic. she returns home, palms the check and locks up the house. morvern tries to convince lanna to go away on another trip with her to which she comments "it's the same *beep* everywhere so stop dreaming."

morvern heads off into the night alone, suitcase of old lps and little else.
