I've heard repeated mentions of the gang of youths (the ones that shout abuse at Lilja after her friend accuses her of prostitution) raping Lilja, but I don't remember any such scene or even implication from the version I downloaded, and having checked, it definitely isn't there. Probably a good thing, but did I watch a cut version? Just curious.

shareIt seems like the version I watched appeared to be cut, too. It was right after her arcade/carnival/whatever date with Andrej and she's in her flat with her friend and all those guys barge in and throw her on the bed and take off her clothes. But the scene was so quick and sudden. It only lasted a couple seconds and afterwards cut to her sitting in Andrej's car. Was that the way it was intended to be? I thought it seemed a little too hastened, Lilya didn't even talk about it or anything.

In fact it is impossible to say if they actually raped Lilja or not for certain. I don't think they did even though a lot of people seem to assume she did get raped by them. However it seems that the boys just forced their way into Lilja's place and humiliated her by throwing her down and taking most of her clothes off and throwing them out the window. We do see something get thrown out of the window very briefly when they do break in. We already know from the film that they basically think she is a low life whore. The scene right after however, she is not sitting in Andrej's car. In the scene after they break in and start taking her clothes off, we see Volodya picking up clothes from the street beneath her window. Then we see Volodya talking to Lilja something about what a bunch of idiots they are, and Lilja just blows it off and says, "I don't care about them, *beep* them." Or something along those lines. She really blew it off as not that big of a deal and so did Volodya, so I don't believe that she was raped by them at all. Humiliated a little, yes, but that's about it.
Personally I think cipryx2000 and others who do believe she was raped by them truly didn't take in all of what happened in those scenes. He says that "the ideea of what would happen is clear." But personally I think he paid about as much attention to what actually happened in those scenes as he did in spelling the word idea..."ideea".

I just saw it on youtube and the rape scene WAS fast and not very detailed, but it did have a brief scene afterwards where she talked about it with her little guy friend, before she went out with her new boyfriend. She sat next to V and said something like "I don't care about it, it doesn't matter, I hate those guys anyway. I'm going to Sweden with (my new boyfriend) anyway."
Maybe her friend said something about not wanting her to leave? I don't remember if he said anything at that point.

That was the most upsetting scenes for me in the film. Nothing was explicit but it was definitely there. It's an absolute joke that the victim of rape is called a slut when there' a bunch of men raping her.
I read something about that in the US at some party where a girl was called a slut while being raped. Anonymous leaked it.
One of the many scenes in this movie that makes you question the point of man.
