Why didn't he just take her to see 'Cats'???
He said "Dirty Dancing" ranked a notch below "Cats" on his scale, but yet he rented that for her how many times.
Maybe it was Utah- Hi "Raising Arizona" (1987)

Cats wasn't running anymore.
He he, so I said it, too. Great climax and ending, btw, starting with the Will Smith cameo, which makes Affleck decide to go home, then the wonderful Sweeney Todd song, and the 'family' scene afterwards.

Cats, by Andrew Lloyd Webber, holds the record for the longest running show on Broadway. It opened on October 7, 1982 and ran on Broadway for 18 years. While not widely acclaimed by critics, Cats has sold tickets in eleven different languages in over three hundred cities in twenty-six countries. Its elaborate costumes, ornate set, and innovative choreography have broken ground for many musicals performed today. The musical is loosely based on T.S. Eliot's book Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. The plot progression relies heavily on cat-like dance moves choreographed by Gillian Lynne.(from coasttocoast tickets.com)

Didn't she not want to see Cats? I thought that was the reason.
shareNo, the reason was it was not running anymore.
I think they stopped running the show, but it could've been anything, they didn't really explain it in the movie and there doesn't seem to be any information on this so called "Cat's" anywhere.
shareIn the film he just answered ''no'' to her, right in the end! No other explanations given!

You are right. I saw it again recently and it was she wanted to see Cats but it had closed. Maybe he could've taken her to see Mamma Mia!, which is now playing where Cats was.
