I Capture the Castle is one of my favourite books, and obviously very difficult to translate through film. I didn't think it was released, but, according to reviews on IMDB, it appears it has. Could anyone tell me when it was released, and if it's any good?

I think it is released around 8th May. I'm looking forward to it, like you this is a real favourite book.
Perhaps the reviewer saw it at a film festival? The bit he didn't like, where Cassandra locks her father in the tower, I remember as rather far-fetched in the book too!

I really hope they don't screw this up. The book is fantastic and I hope they do Dodi Smith some justice. And another thing: I took a look at the kid that they cast as Stephen, and he is not how I imagined the real Stephen in the book. What about you? I love Stephen and how he was always in love with Cassandra and copied poetry for her. Sigh! Just the same, I hope the actor is good enough to pull off the role.
shareAh, the actor you speak of is Henry Cavill. Though I must admit I haven't yet seen the film myself (it isn't released here in the U.S. until July 11th, so I've read), I know for certain that he is incredibly talented and am confident in his abilities. ...however, I did see the romp-in-the-woods scene with Stephen and Cassandra, and it certainly looked good to me. ;)

shareI just saw it and was impressed with how true to the book they were. I was worried that they would change the ending, and maybe make it happier and more 'filmy' but it was hardly changed at all. I also thought the casting was very good, and simon, neil, topaz, james and rose were exactly how I had imagined them.

Do you remember the name of the song Rose was trying to play on the harpsichord to endear herself to the two American guys....a Cole Porter tune?
I don't mean the later "You and the Night and the Music" that Cassandra and Simon dance to before their kiss.
