What is the significance of the title?

I apologise if this question has been answered in another thread, but I couldn't find reference to it anywhere.

The meaning behind the title is explained more so in the book.
Cassie: in an attempt to improve her writing skills decides to note down things that happen on a day to day basis around the castle.
Cassie tries to 'capture' the castle by writing about her family and her home...

It's a reference to a chess move--but I don't know how that applies to this plot.
