Soundtrack?

I just finished watching I Capture the Castle, and I must say, what a wonderful movie! I loved everything about it and can't wait to read the novel.

Anyway, to my question: Does anyone know if there is a soundtrack available for this movie? Because the music was great!

Thanks for your help,

I don't think there is a soundtrack to the film or if there is it is very hard to find. Could anybody tell me what songs were played on the film in list form? Thanx

reply

Ok, thanks anyway.
Yeah, I would like to know all of the songs played in the movie too.

I'm not sure that there is a soundtrack to the film. Usually at the end of a film the credits will state who the soundtrack is distributed by, etc, but I noticed that although they list (as all movies do for copyright reasons) the songs played, there is no comment on a soundtrack. I haven't tried searching the internet for information on this, but the instrumental theme is by Dario Marianelli. So yes, I'm not sure if you'll have any luck with that, sadly, as the music was realy really nice! Hope this is of some use to you,
Clare

I'd also love to find a soundtrack, but I'm doubtful that one exists.
If anyone's interested and didn't already know, the two vocal songs are "The Very Thought of You" and "You and the Night and the Music." I believe both are originally by Frank Sinatra.

reply

The Very Thought of You was composed in 1934 by Roy Noble, later sung by Bing Crosby.

I am very sorry to report that as of now there is no soundtrack recording available. The music is fantastic in this film and someone really should consider picking it up and distributing it. There is something very emotional and moving about the music that makes it hard to shake from your memory. Someone please release this!

Hi there! Anyone knows if there is still no soundtrack??

Lomadia, you said the song "You and the Night and the Music" and "The Very Thought of You" are originally by Frank Sinatra. Are these very versions by Sinatra are performed in the movie? And also, do you know who performs music "Claire De Lune"? Escofet Sebastian?

Anyway, I have already downloaded all three tracks from a website http://musicfond.com/ (for free). I am just not really sure that exactly these versions were played in the movie because I watched it long time ago. :\ If you can't download them, email to [email protected] and I will send them to you.

MOVIESCORE MEDIA RELEASES
ACADEMY AWARD-NOMINATED COMPOSER
DARIO MARIANELLI’S
”I CAPTURE THE CASTLE”

FIRST RELEASE IN NEW “DISCOVERY COLLECTION” SERIES

Soundtrack label MovieScore Media launches its new series of high quality film scores, ”MovieScore Media Discovery Collection”, on May 29, 2007. The first release in the series is I CAPTURE THE CASTLE, an acclaimed British 2003 drama with a heartbreakingly beautiful original score by Academy Award-nominated composer Dario Marianelli (Pride and Prejudice, V for Vendetta, The Brothers Grimm, Goodbye Bafana). The poetic and romantic score will be available online (www.itunes.com and www.moviescoremediashop.com) as well as on CD, exclusively distributed by Screen Archives (www.screenarchives.com).

”We couldn’t find a better score and composer for our premiere release in the ’Discovery Collection’ series,” commented label executive Mikael Carlsson. ”So far, MovieScore Media has concentrated its activites on current film scores, but there is so much exquisite film music out there to be discovered from films that came out before we entered the market. With the ’Discovery Collection’ we will try to catch up and release the most interesting, exciting and beautiful film scores we can find!”

I CAPTURE THE CASTLE is based on a novel by Dodie Smith, the author of 101 Dalmatians. Directed by Tim Fywell and starring Romola Garai, Bill Nighy, Henry Thomas and Rose Byrne, the film was released in 2003 and was nominated for several awards, winning the Audience Award at the Film by the Sea International Film Festival. It’s a beautiful drama about a 17-year old woman and her eccentric family, who lives in an old English castle. Her sister is determined to marry their American landlord, and a wedding is arranged – but events spiral out of control as everyone is drawn into a maelstrom of interconnected relationships.

Dario Marianelli’s music for the film foreshadows his Oscar-nominated score for Pride and Prejudice, which he wrote two years after I CAPTURE THE CASTLE. The poetic and melodic orchestral score, orchestrated and conducted by the composer, was called the film’s “real bright spot” by Deseretnews and described as “lovely, haunting… certainly one of the film’s best facets” by DVD Verdict.

In addition to Dario’s score, the album also features a heartfelt rendition of Claude Debussy’s Clair de Lune, performed by the composer on piano.
MovieScore Media’s release of I CAPTURE THE CASTLE is available for download at www.moviescoremediashop.com and www.itunes.com and on CD from www.screenarchives.com.

i really need this to be released in stores. Do anyone know if there is any possiblility of this?

I absolutely love the music from this film.

I live in Australia and unfortunately do not have a credit card to shop online with, and prefer not to buy things this way online anyway.
