Did anyone else see these things in the movie?

This movie was soooooo frigging bad, It's just a slap in the face to the well written and best played first, But while I was watching it I saw little tie ins with the first.

1) C. Thomas Howell = Dead ringger their, He was the star of the first.

2) The truck that almost runs Jim and Maggie off the road is the same black truck that the first Hitcher in the movie drove around with, Also if you look close the driver looks a lot like the first Hitcher.

3)Jim's dead! That death was the biggest slap ever! But then again killing Nash off just when you thought she was a main person in the first was just like this, a shocking death of a person we know in the movie.

4)The water tower Maggie is in, is the water tower Nash and Jim run by in the first.

5)The cut off finger is a tie in with the finger in the french fry plate that we saw in the first.

6)During the end Maggie wares a red cover up shirt, It's the same shirt Jim wore when he first picked up the hitcher.

7) The Hitcher in this one at the end is dressed just like the first Hitcher.

8) The Hitcher being tied inbetween the trucks is a tie in with the first movie with Nash.

9)The death of the hitcher on the highway...sure this one he blew up, but Maggie is holding a shot-gun, just like Jim in the first, and we also don't know if the police will buy her story.

Killing Jim only hurt the film more, C Thomas Howell was the best actor in the entire film. Even with a banal role the poor guy still gave it the old college try and came through it with his dignity intact. Making his girlfriend the hero didn't work. She was too much of a wussie/ moron. Not once was I beleiving that Kari Wuhrer was a toughie. She's just not good enough of an actor to pull it off, even WITH a good script (which this film doesn't have). This film was doomed from the get go. It's another "Children Of The Living Dead".

C.Thomas Howell was awful in this! They didn't kill him quickly enough. He was like a truly bad actor minus the talent. He couldn't remember if he was supposed to be gravelly voiced and bitter, or non-gravelly voiced and morose. I found myself wanting to cut off my own finger just to make the experience more fun. Regardless of her talent, Kari Wuhrer is at least pleasing to look at. However, even if she'd been naked through half the movie, that wouldn't have saved this train wreck. It was just horrid.

Since this is a sequel and takes place along the same stretch of highway, I would HOPE that the director would include familiar scenery and scenes to anchor this film. If all we had was the main character, it would be too tenuous a link, given the huge time gap. I haven't seen the first one in decades, so I hope these links to it will be enough to recapture the horror of that film... although reading these boards, it is doubtful.
