Where was Amanda?

Keep in mind: I haven't finished watching this film yet. A friend of mine taped it for me, and I'm probably about half way done, maybe even more then that (I'm at the part where the Guardian is leading Anna somewhere, I'm guessing to where the Source can be found). It's not my favorite HL film but I do like it. I can't wait to see what happens at the end even though I have a good guess since I've seen/read spoilers.

Anyway: as I watched it I was wondering where Amanda was during all this? I love Amanda. It was nice to have a female Immortal around who could kick ass. I mean hell they could have gave her a cameo or something.

Same place she was in Highlander: Endgame, absent without explanation.

I loved her in the original series. I would like to see her in at least one Highlander movie. I wouldn't even mind if Nick was with her but Mac would have to be in there as well because they're so good together.

Immortals are not meant to age. Peter WIngfield looks older in the film so maybe Elizabeth Gracen was looking too old to play Amanda. Isn't she in her 50's now??

reply

I think Peter looks pretty good for his age. I mean besides for a few winkles he looks like he could go on and play Methos a few more years. As for Elizabeth. I'm not sure. What has she been up to lately? I haven't seen any fresh pics.

You can see some pictures taken of her and the other actors from the HLWW convention over at http://www.highlander-community.com/ and check under "Highlander Fandom", there are several threads from this convention. Gracen still looks stunning.

It just infuriates me how one of the best characters from HL doesn't even get mentioned in Endgame or the Source.

Gracen had a falling out with Davis/Panzer. During the first season of her series, The Raven, she supposedly had a breakdown of some sort. They mention it on the DVD extras for the boxed set series. Anyhoo, it sounds as if they blame her for the failure of the new series and don't want to work with her ever again.

That's what I gleaned from the extra content...

I think it had more to do with the Bill Clinton scandal. She was hiding out in France sooner than have to testify in front of the Starr Commission. I have an interview with her discussing, albeit guardedly, that she refused to testify because what happened between she and Clinton was a personal experience and she would not be part of a witch hunt.

I didn't know that. That makes sense. Thanks!

Really? I have never seen Amanda kicking anyone's ass. But then I've never watched The Raven, so maybe I missed something in there. There was only one incident where I ever saw her taking anyone's head.. and she was cheating. It was Duncan's fight, and she simply caught the guy off guard.. from behind. Aside from her physical beauty (which I won't disagree with), she was useless as a character. I'm not surprised they left her out of the films.

umm. she couldn't be in this movie because they needed a man to impregnate the source. HELLO? did no one else notice this? men following some stupid bimbo to a 'dead spot' where they have to fight each other, cannibals, and some psycho.
any woman immortal would have been like WTF? and left.

FYI. immortality is so much cooler than offspring anyway.

Good question about Amanda and why she didn't appear in Endgame or The Source. It could be possible, Amanda may had gotten decapitated by Jacob Kell or one of his followers.

Amanada's fate remains a unsolved mystery.

Apparently there were a lot of problems with her and her boyfriend on The Raven and no one wanted to work with her again unfortunately. If it were possible, I'd have put her in Anna's place. Originally it was meant to be Kate, and since this movie disses all Highlander methos (hehe, the character too), why not there can be only two? Cassandra, the sorcererss in the Elder's story was an immortal, so why not Amanda being drawn to the Source? Well, to call her pure of heart I guess is too much of a joke, but if it was going to originally be Kate, what's the difference?

If I didn’t talk the way I talk I wouldn’t know who the hell I am, Sean Connery on his accent
