As much as I love Christine Baranski, who did a great job in the movie, I think it would have been great to have Ann Reinking play Mary Sunshine in the film, considering her history with Chicago and Fosse. Plus, it would have been wonderful to see her in an actual film again, as Micki + Maude was her last one, way back in 1984!

I still think they should have had Harvey Firestien as Mary Sunshine. it would have been the most authentic adaptation!
shareThe role of Mary Sunshine on Broadway is always cast with a man and the show is still going strong in 2019. I guess the gag reveal would not have been as shockingly humerus in the movie.
