am I looking into it too hard? because there's a lot of it in here....and Roxie and Velma literally end up 'together' by the time the movie finishes. seriously, their relationship could be interpreted as a love-hate attraction-flirtation if you read it that way.

Yeah.

This may be hard to believe, but it's possible for a woman to have a love/hate relationship with another woman and be perfectly platonic.

But, to answer your question: I didn't sense any Sapphic element to their lousy non-relationship. Even though they hated each other, they decided to work together at the end simply because it was profitable and, as Velma pointed out, show business is the only business where it's not necessary to like each other.

Yeah, only gay vibes I’ve got are from Mama character (Queen Latifah).

Yeah, and having only one lesbian-ish character in a film that's mostly set in a women's prison is pretty tame.

It's pretty obvious that Roxie and Velma aren't attracted to each other, don't like each other, and are both straight. They're more likely to steal each other's men out of rivalry and dislike, than get it on.
