Ah, so much wasted potential

Don't get me wrong, this was pretty good campy fun. Unfortunately they chose to go the Buffy route and target it towards teens. If this was done with a lot of over-the-top gore and some gratuitous nudity it could have really rocked.

I just saw this movie and I would have to disagree with you.

Unfortunately they chose to go the Buffy route and target it towards teens.
I am not a teen (in fact I didn't start watching Buffy until I was 22) and I loved this movie.
If this was done with a lot of over-the-top gore
This would have made the movie crap.
and some gratuitous nudity
This is your only thought that I could agree with.

Sorry to pick apart your post, but I am feeling a little argumentative at the moment.......Ok, moment's over

Then let me correct myself, they went the 18-24 market route. I liked it a lot, I just think that it could have been even better.

"This would have made the movie crap. "

I think, quite obviously, that is a matter of opinion, and ours will just have to remain in disagreement.

Well at least we agree on something.

I think there are too few good b-movies that have enough gratuitous nudity (Halfway House being a welcome exception). It's like these days they feel they can do softcore horror (which is usually boring as hell) or b-movies without nudity, but they're afraid to put good, sleazy, gratuitous nudity in b-movies like back in the good old 70's.

I have seen a few recently that seem to be getting on track, besides Halfway House, Shadow: Dead Riot, Actress Apocalypse, and Shock-O-Rama have done a good job of haveing a good b-movie and lots of t&a. of course there's always Troma.

It's okay, I know the feeling. Still would have like to see a decapitation or two and maybe some heart-ripping-out.

I agree that b-movies should have some t&a in. Its not right to have no nudity. Thats why we watch these films.

I think its a trend in general in US movies to not have sex in em. Horrors, for instance, are horribly under performing in the titillation stakes.
Take house of Wax. Not a bad film, but wouldve been much better had Elisha Cuthbert got em out.

Unfortunately it's not just US flicks, though I'd guess that with a lot of foreign flicks hopes of US distribution is a factor. Besides Bloody Mallory (French), some of my favorite recent crazy b-flicks such as Evil Aliens (UK) and Zombie Self-Defense Force (Japan) have also eschewed gratuitous nudity, which would have fit right in.

So, are we gonna set up a petition to get more tits in films then?

Even teen comedies these days regularly dont have tits in, or if they do, they are incidental characters that nobody cares about.

I'm not a buffy the vampire slayer fan, but I had a lot of fun with this. Yes, if the tone had been more serious and darker, it would have been perfect. I just decided ten minutes into this to enjoy Bloody Mallory for what it was, just a campy horror flick with some inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft.

Vargas shouldve done a sex scene like she did in Name of the Rose, man that was steaming hot.
A female vampire all lust and depravity, it wouldve fit in perfectly.
