David Pacino erm...Krumholtz

Ok Im Oz, so maybe my ability to pick stateside dialects is a little off...

David Kumholtz (as Benny Silman)is really doing a big Al Pacino the whole way through, he even gives us a "Hoo-arr".

Is this the natural DK accent or his gimmick to get some recognition?

Worth noting that the last scene with the real Benny Silman shows his accent is nothing close to a solid Brooklyn.

The same last scene also made the movie look like a Government "Just say No" to sportsfixing advertorial, or failing that a move by Silman to make some sort of appeal against his punishment.

Al Pacino has a New York Italian accent, Benny Silman has a Brooklyn jewish accent. Similar, yes, but Krumholtz isn't specifically channelling Pacino. As for the "Just Say No," I'll admit there is a certain prosthletizing air to the whole thing.

reply

No, that is not the natural DK accent. He acctually has no accent.

reply

I didn't say it was DK's accent, I said it was Benny's accent and that Krumholtz wasn't *channelling* (i.e. doing something on purpose) Pacino. Krumholtz does have a slight New York accent, though (I've heard it on interviews & talk shows promoting for "Numb3rs") - maybe not Brooklyn, and certainly not heavy or even really prominent. But after living in New York for many years and not having grown up here, I can hear it in his voice.

reply

He's from Queens so it would make sense that he would have a slight New York accent.

reply

He has a New York accent in The Santa Claus movies.
