The Ending

I loved this movie.
I thought about the ending after the movie ended. At first a little disappointed.
But this is what we have been fed with by Hollywood.A perfect ending.A happy ending.Predictable ending.
So for a change,we have what we dont expect.
Everything doesnt have a perfect ending.Even in our real lives.
We have been force fed by the movie makers. Our emotion has not been validated.
We want something to happen, but it doesnt, and we are not satisfied. We are disappointed. We cant have it our way all the time. And this is about just that.
And this is refreshing.Hannibal got away in three movies. No one complained.
We should get more movies like this.

The message of this movie is,
Like Bobby (Jake Weber) said to Monica (Maria Bello):
-"You never wanna negotiate with someone whose got nothing left to lose...No telling what a person is capable of given the right circumstance."

Sometimes, you have to just walk away from a situation.
Its original and unpredictable.

This is a highly underrated movie, i started watching it late/ early one morning ( around 1), not expecting to watch all of it, but i was surprised. For the majority of the film its sustainable, but it is one of the most hilarious movies i've seen during the last half hour. You're right, it is very original and unpredictable, although i did have trouble figuring out why exactly they knocked out that guy and kept him in the bathtub. Care to explain?

Some *****SPOILERS*****

DONOT READ ***SPOILERS***

They bound the guy (Nick Chinlund) because they thought he was part of the scam.He was a big guy as well. What they wanted to do was not pay the amount and get away with it.Like Bobby boss says, that he is several time divorced and doesnt pay for anything to his ex-wives.
So Bobbys boss, goes and talks to the guy in the bar and invites him to his room to sign the papers, get the tape and pay him.
Their intention was not to pay,and by kidnapping that guy they had somewhat of the upper hand...except....well,you know the rest :).
Hope it helps.

It did help, thank you. But watching it again made me question how exactly they managed to get the guy up to the roof if, as we saw, there were quite a few cameras in the hotel. I'm not specifically asking you, i mean feel free to answer, but i'm just throwing that out there for consideration.

*****LOL****
Its a movie. We have to assume what we didnt see.
Besides,it was at the 80min mark and they had to conclude the movie...LOL.
The reason,I think, they didnt show us that,is because it would have spoiled the ending.Since we didnt know what happened to the roof guy till we actually saw him there.Thats was one of the surprises, when we finally know how they got away with it.Would have killed the movie if we knew how they got rid of the roof guy.The ending wouldnt have the same impact it did.
Somethings like that are left to the imagination to get the full impact of our emotional experience.
How that?! :)

Alright alright, sorry. Sometimes i overanalyze stuff, but thank you once again.

I loved the movie too.

I would have loved to see an ending like this though:

The boring "sales negotiation" class that the boys are attending suddenly takes on a life-saving potency. Cut back and forth between the negotiation tips and the on-going negotiations with Moniica. One rule for sure is "keep her talking". Monica is not smart enough to talk for a long time without letting something slip. She may shut down Bobby's chatter however for fear of a phone trace. No immediate clues for the boys are revealed so chalk one up for Monica. Another rule: "always look at the merchandise before you buy. Don't assume you know the value and quality of the merchandise." After the Big Guy was knocked out, McKean, the boss and smart guy, would have insisted that the boys get a bowl of popcorn and watch the whole thing. Bobby would no doubt have protested and then been overruled. Then they would have found out that the tape was a dummy and put there focus on Monica. "Does she really have a tape?" Another rule: "someone says they have something to sell to you, make them prove it." "We're buying a tape, let's see a copy of it Monica!" A legitimate request that Monica can't say no to. Then her fraud is uncovered and Bobby escapes without paying anything, thanks to his boss and the sales class.

wow, that's well thought out, that would have been a really good ending, i like that.

I also liked this movie a lot. However, I did think the ending was too predictable and not realistic. They all end up paying her the $60,000? Who could have predicted that? Also, following a quick examination of the body, the investigators would have found out that the victim was assaulted before his death.

This is a funny, compelling, and original movie...up until the last few minutes.

when the guys dies in the bathtub, and when they discuss what to do, the fugly "friend" guy suggest to cut up his limbs and and carry his parts in a suit case to rid of the body, becasue he saw it in a movie, were they kill a hooker in vegas......i just thought that was funny becuase he was refferring to "very bad things"

I think it's nice to see that Lenny has all of this confidence now and is a big shot salesman. But what happened to poor Squiggy? He didn't even show up once in this movie. I like to think that he's back in Milwaukee, married to Shirley with a bunch of kids.

I'm an innocent victim in here! I was attacked by a coked up whore and a - a *beep* crazy dentist!

I watched most of the movie, went out of the room after the bartender was dead, and when I returned, it was over. Fill me in, guys. Spoil it for me.

Thanks.
