I met Jason... He's actually not a bad dude

To preface I watched this entire season and I did not come away from it with a good impression of Jason.
Low and behold I recently had a screening at the same festival the Leisure Class was showing and ran into Jason outside one of the theaters.

I stopped him to tell I watched the show and chatted for a bit. He came off way better than how the show portrayed him. Apparently he has another project in the works and seems pretty stoked on filmmaking still.

Although I really wanted to, I didn't have the heart to ask him how he really felt about Effie. But it goes to show you can't really trust the way people are presented on shows like this.

Never thought he was a bad guy (or visual director), just too self-absorbed as an inexperienced artist to compromise gracefully or to learn from others instead of imagining conspiracies.

Never thought Effie was a bad person (or producer) either, just a difficult combination of emotionally stubborn coupled with narrow interpersonal and communication skills.

Yeah I read an interview with him where he thought he was presented unfairly and he seemed less arrogant in it. I don;t agree with a lot of his chooses in it though.

Also I discovered he picked tow locations that fell through and HBO edited to make it look like getting the location so late was his fault.

I've heard his version of that, but he doesn't process reality properly sometimes so I take with a grain of salt until it is confirmed by others exactly what went down. I can see them telling him those locations wouldn't work and him insisting he wanted them anyway, for instance.

I thought Jason had a vision, and stuck with it. A lot of unnecessary drama from others that wasn't warranted.

He denies there actually was a lot of drama.

He's a bad director. His vision sucks.
