it has took me sooo long to find this page, because i put 'the dream stone' instead of 'the dreamstone' grrr...not my fault i put an extra space in it,but yeah i adored this show, and the name has been bugging me for weeks andweeks, but i remembered i had the soundtrack for it..and obviously it says on that..i shall have to listen to the soundtrack to see what memories it brings back

I know u can be underwhelmed,and u can be overwhelmed,but can u ever just be,like,whelmed?

reply

Yes!
the Dreamstone remains my all time favourite cartoon. In my opinion, nothing has surpassed it, although Mike Jupp's other creation Bimble's Bucket came close!
I have been lucky enough to meet the talented Mr Jupp, and what a nice guy he is. If you liked Dreamstone, you'll enjoy reading his novel RETRIBUTION - a gloriously funny fantasy adventure.

I KNOW!!! This was my favourite program when I was little, and I'm the only person i know who knows about it. Kids' TV nowadays is so bad. It's either creepy (think deformed american kids with massive nickolodean style eye balls, i think these are the worst) or really wet and sissy, with a "Be nice to your siblings" theme. There is no kids' fantasy cartoons any more, they're all set in american suburbs, starring teddies and bunnies who go to elementary school. Bring back the Dreamstone!

HERE, HERE, RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!
"I hope you're pleased with yourselves. We could have been all killed- or worse, expelled."

OhhhhhHhhhhhh! I totally forgot about this programme! Ooooh I just downloaded the theme tune, nostalgia overload!

i can't believe that so little people remember this cartoon the dream stone was such an amazing piece of animation!! One word to describe it would be 'masterpiece'. it was like the perfect way of distinguishing the differences between good and evil, and the characters had very interesting personalities. it's a shame they don't make cartoons for kids like this anymore where they are all set in a fantasy world. nowadays children's cartoons are mainly animal characters set in real life situations like at home and in school. it makes me wonder wot sort of imagination the next couple of generations would have.

All the great things seem to come from england :)

It's so nice to hear english accents for once.

I fell in love with the erpnes (for some reason I always thought the name was spelt with an e instead of the u) Frizz was my favourite.

Pity they can't make another series

The urpneys were the greatest thing ever in the history of cartoons.

There's a soundtrack?

reply

There was. The album still crops up on eBay occasionally in LP or CD format - the CD singles of Better Than a Dream and The War Song of the Urpneys're rarer.

This was my all time favourite cartoon as well, although I could not for the life of me remember the name of it! For months i've been looking for 'the dream catcher' or 'dream snatcher' or 'the dreamer.' Finally! THE DREAMSTONE! It's still a good show, with an excellent theme song. I LOVE Zordracks voice...he's heaps scary.

I absolutely agree. This show has been a consuming obsession of mine since it originally aired and I am currently beginning a campaign to bring it back in some form. If you love it too, join its creator Mike Jupp's Dreamstone forum at http://www.webnet2000.cc/mikejupp/modules/newbb/viewforum.php?forum=4 and join me in engaging in debate with other fans of the show.

This was one of my fave British cartoons as a kid - loved it and I own the two DVDs released so far.
