Geek Screw Ups

Okay, I just watched an episode and watched the Star Wars Geek totally screw up. The question was: "What was the name of the character AND actor who told Princess Leia that 'the shield doors must be closed' in The Empire Strikes Back?"
The SW Geek said John Ratzenburger (Cliff of "Cheers"), who DID have a cameo, but DID NOT say that line! The character was General Rikien (sp?) and I don't know the actor's name, but it was not John R. I suppose I could look it up, but I already know the SW Geek was wrong...
Am I a geek? Probably, but not a Star Wars geek. anyone else spot a Geek Screw Up? Post it here.

The King Of Rhye

There was an episode where the Comicbook geek was asked to name as many mutants as he could in 15 seconds, and he said Juggernaut and they counted it. Juggernaut is an enemy of the x-men, but he is not a mutant

I am the evil monkey what lives in your nuts :D :D :D :D :D

reply

Actually, in one series of X-men Juggernaut was counted a mutant. But only in that one, in all the other ones he, of course, has the jewel.

One contestant had to guess if "Day for Night" was Movie, Music, or TV. She said Music and got it wrong.

Day for Night is a movie, as well as a Tragically Hip album. She was therefore, correct.

However the rules are what is it best known as, and day for a night is best known as a movie. Not so much a Hip album. So she was infact wrong...

Comic book geek said that Spiderman was bitten by a spider that was bambarded by gamma rays lol.

On one episode the music geek was asked what Brian Eno played in Roxy Music. He said keyboards and was given a point as correct.

Brian Eno did not play keyboards in Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry did. Eno played Synthesizer (with no keyboard) and Tapes (manipulating sounds with both)

It still bugs me ...

reply

WTF? That WAS John Ratzenberger who delivered that line.

Rhyeking may not be a geek, but he certainly is a moron.

i just remember them counting "bring it on" as a football movie which i thought was a little strange. yes, there's football in the movie, but that movie is CLEARLY a cheerleading film. it shouldn't be counted for anything but a cheerleading film.

They asked a question..."What Canadian actor had a starring role in the Movie Billy Madison". The contestant answered Adam Sandler for which she got the points awarded to her.....when the hell was Adam Snadler Canadian?

reply

LOL! I don't think he ever was. Norm MacDonald on the other hand...

(I should know, he's all over the Bell Sympatico ads).

The Simpsons geek was asked a question to which the answer "Mister Burns" would have sufficed, but he tried to show off and use the full name, saying "Montgomery J. Burns". It was counted as correct, even though his actual name is Charles Montgomery Burns.

By far my favourite moment on the show was the the horror geek did not know that the Jason's last name was Vorhees (Spelling?). I sat and dreamily thought, i could be doing a better job then this guy.

I saw one where the Geek did not recognize The Coens and they had a movie geek from the show on the radio some years back and he could not answer a James Bond question. When he got called out on it by the listner who called in with the question, he got an attitude on how he had his own television show and the guy did not. Some of the geeks are real *beep* The Simpsons has it right.

reply

The wrestling geek was worst, he didn't know hardly anything... I remember watching the show getting angry at him over and over again.

reply

I agree. That Movie Geek is a full-tilt crapface. Somebody should go to Hollywood and beat him to a pulp.
