Brilliant - could have been the next Only Fools...

Another sitcom that got criticised during it's first series; unfortunately, we'll never get to see how good it could have been.

Looking at some of the pompous, pretentious criticisms this show received, I think people were trying too hard to find fault with what I thought was just a very funny programme.

It seems people didn't get the characters at all. Personally, I recognised every one of them and I'd take 'Orrible over the likes of My Family and Little Britain any day.

Agreed mate. Just picked this up on DVD for around £40, such is the rarity of the item, and thought it was absolutely BLINDING!!

i agree, i think this was a very funny show, i still have a few of the eps taped on video, but i want the DVD

The fact that 'Orrible got canned whilst we have to put with utter junk like My family leaves me apoplectic with rage.

The BBC should hang it's head in shame at letting this gem go. If 'Orrible had come along twenty years earlier they (the Beeb) would have stuck with it.

Having said that, maybe if Jonny had waited a couple of years they would have stuck with it too. Look at the success Ricky Gervais had with The Office on BBC2.

"Write about what you know kids" is Ricky's oft heard response to the what's the secret of your success question. Well Jonny Vaughan did and look where it got him.

"Hi, yeah its me. Err......I forgot my mantra"

This must be one of the most widely enjoyed panned comedies ever. This struck a chord with a lot of people who got the premise very quickly, knew the characters and found the situations very funny.

To this day i cannot understand why this gem of a show failed.

back when this was out me and a few mates absolutely loved this and knew quite a few others who enjoyed it too, dont know why i didnt buy this on DVD when it was out. I have 5 eps on tape but didnt record 1 and the final 2 eps on another tape got taped over i should have labelled it.

Still aint seen this is any charity shops yet.

Couldnt see it on ebay, and the the cheapest on amazon is £42.99, the other seller is flogging it for £59.99, i still can't forgive myself for not buying this when it was out, a geezer i used to work with had it on DVD,(i assume he still has) aparently the extras were good too.

I still reckon ill find it in a charity shop for a quid lol, no luck so far. I may have to fork out the full whack.

Same here, I keep looking out for it in secondhand shops and car boots and that,

but in the meantime the whole series is available to watch for free here...
