IYH: It's Time Review

Interesting story about this ppv. This show's name was in reference to Vader who was supposed to be in the world title match but was injured. Another story has to do with Vader.

Here's an explaination from Scott Keith' website as to how this ppv came about.

"There is of course a rather famous political to-do behind this show, as the WWF sent out the preview and title information to cable companies in September based on the assumption that Vader would be World champion by the time this show rolled around and the show would be based around him. Weeeeelll, not so fast said Shawn Michaels, as he refused to job the title to Vader and threw a temper tantrum until he got the belt switched to his friend Sid instead. Of course, this rendered the theme of the show into a complete non-sequitur."

Anyway, McMahon, JR and Lawler on commentary. Live from West Palm Beach!!!

Match #1

Singles Match

Leif Cassidy Vs Flash Funk

Jannetty is gone and Cassidy is on his own in singles for another two months. Flash does his routine with the funkettes but the fans don't really care. Funk/Cassidy put on a nice match working in some somersault planchas to the outside. Flash dives off the top on Cassidy outside then rolls him back in for a huuuugggeeee!!!! Kurt Angle style moonsault for 2. Cassidy drps him with a clothesline then they go through a quick series on pin attempts, enzuiguri drops Leif. Belly to back suplex near the corner and Funk hits the sweet 450 splash and pins Cassidy 10 minutes in. 2 1/2 stars. Wish it went a little longer.

Match #2

Tag Team Championship Match

The British Bulldog Daveyboy Smith and Owen Hart w Clarence Mason Vs New Razor Ramon and New Diesel

I hope the shty gimmick doesn't drag this one down (I think it will) JR is still acting like a jackass asking dumb questions about why the fans are booing possibly the worst gimmick of all time. Cornettes on his way out of the managing picture at this point. Cibernetico and Pierroth from the AAA wander out to look at the match and McMahon starts plugging the Royal Rumble TWO MATCHES INTO THIS PPV!!! Austin comes down to ringside and he and Bulldog start beating the sht out of eachother. If this was Raw they would of ended the match now I think. Owen tags in and Diesel opens the ropes as he runs by and spills outside. Diesels rams him back first into the post then the fakers work over the back. Best move of the match, New Razor pulls out an overhead release pumphandle slam which is not seen very often. Fakers playing the heels in this one. Bulldog hotags and cleans house. Pier 4 breaks out. NR hits the edge but Owen gives him a kick to prevent a pin attempt and Bulldog pins him in the process around the 10 minute mark. Better then I expected. 2 1/2s stars. Austin lays out Davey postmatch. JR bitches about the Hart family cheating.

Match #3

Intercontinental Title Match

Hunter Hearst Helmsley Vs Wildman Marc Mero w Sable

This is the final ppv match to blow off their feud. Standard match, Hunter goes for the pedigree too soon and gets slingshot into the steel post. Referee Hebner gets bumped and both guys end up outside. Goldust wanders to ringside and it looks like he's going after Mero. But instead, he nails Hunter!!! Hunter is out and Mero beats the count back inside to win but no title. Mero hits the wild thing postmatch then while Hunter is getting helped to the back GD nails him again. This would start the Goldust/Hunter feud over H making a pass at Marlena. 2 stars

Match #4

Armaggeddon Match

The Undertaker Vs The Executioner w Paul Bearer

Taker finally puts Executioner out of the picture in this match. This is a death math, where the only way to win is beat somebody til they can't answer the 10 count. Terry Gordy plays the role of the Executioner and gets his ass handed to him for 5 or 6 minutes. Executioner clotheslines Taker outside but that's pretty much the only offense he gets in. Mankind comes down to help and all three fight all over the place. They fight into and break through the front door on the In Your House display at the entranceway. Security charges in and mace Mankind and drag him off in a strait jacket. Taker beats The Executioner outside the arena and they fight around the place. They work their way back in and Taker splats Gordy with the tombestone. He can't answer the 10 count and Taker wins at 11:31. Bleh. 1/2 star.

Match #5

World Heavyweight Championship Match

Psycho Sid Vs Bret The Hitman Hart

Hart's starting his heel turn here. He complains about Michaels starting his music up during Bret's interview. Shawn sits at ringside which is a prett good idea of how the match will end. I don't know who's the bigger whiner tonight, JR, Hart or Michaels. Shawn basically shoots on Sid. Michaels won't shut up for the 10 of the 17 minutes of this match. Saying alot of cryptic insider insults about Bret Hart. This is the era when I started hating Shawn. When he started hanging out on commentary and taking shoot shots at people. Hart/Sid fight outside where Bret backs him into the steel post. Bret works on the back and does his moves of doom business. Sid catches him on the top rope and slams him off. Sid hits a powerslam for 2. Then a short clothesline for 2. He misses a legdrop and Bret right away decides enough farting around, and goes for the sharpshooter. Sid powers out and Hart flies outside hurting his knee. Austin makes a run in and attacks Bret's leg. Bulldog and Owen run down and beat up Austin for earlier in the night. Sid beats on him. Sid screws up snake eyes on Bret and gets the chokeslam for 2. They battle outside where Sid starts sht with Michaels then he and Bret get back inside and Michaels gets up on the apron. Sid sends Bret into Shawn and he hits the powerbomb on Hart and pins him 17 minutes in. The start of Bret's inevitable heel turn. Im going 2 1/2 stars.

Overall Opinion: Armaggeddon Match was the weak one here obviously. I woulnd't call it the worst EVER. I enjoyed it about as much as the Hollywood Backlot Brawl at Mania 12. Which was also a waste of time and came accross as fake EVEN in pro wrestling. Another almost completely forgettable WWF ppv that has been swallowed by time. The only thing that was brought up from this show in the following months was the main event when reference was made to Bret's heel turn.

Final Score: Im going 2.7. Would of gone 2.9 but Shawn's commentary pissed me off!!!

As of now IMHO it's the worst IYH next to Triple Header
