Too cynical for me, I quit half way...

I'm a sarcastic guy and I love dark humor, but I hate pretentiousness... Roger seemed a little "too hip" for me.. I couldn't watch more than half of this movie.

That's a shame, you should give it another shot and see it through to the end. Part of the film is that Roger's actually pretty pathetic, and as it progresses you find out just how few people do actually find his "hipness" endearing. Just as the film's about Nick growing up, so too is it about Roger.

Yea I thought it had potential and would turn around, but it was just too hard for me lol.. Guys like Roger really are annoying and self-conscious. They're so cliche. But that was the point of the movie, i know.

It seemed like a good movie, just not for me lol.

This movie is, for me, amazing.
I loved it.

You should really give it another try.

Too cynical for most of its running length, then too sentimental and saccharine at the end. I still recommend it mildly (6/10) because there is some intelligence in the script and good acting, but only mildly.

so many movies, so little time

You missed out. It grows on you after a while. Roger is one of the few likeable characters by the end of the movie. He's the only one who's real, besides Nick. It's everyone else who's 'politely phoney'
