Was it released theatrically?

Does anyone know if it received a wide release or if it was limited? The first time I heard of it was in 2003 while shopping at Kmart they had it in a glass case. They finally got rid of that thing. I dunno if that was simply because DVDs were less likely to be stolen than Blu-ray, or if having those things for an item like that kinda gives a store a bad reputation. Like I think it's a bit strange that a Wal Mart in town has some of the makeup in a glass case while I believe the other one in town doesn't.

yes it was in the theaters. I saw it in Sioux Falls SD so if it was there

I've always picture it being in big theaters maybe 2 weekends and then getting downgraded to like one afternoon showing a day. I've always loved this movie, wish it had been acknowledged a bit more. I feel bad for not really discovering it until it was already released to video. Don't even think HBO aired it as their Saturday night movie. Do they even do that anymore!

I saw it in the theater, it got a releas, not a wide release.

It was in a 24 screen multiplex in one of the smaller theaters.

I don't think HBO does that as a "guarantee" anymore. They usually do show a new movie every Saturday night, but they don't guarantee it anymore.

Guarantee? I don't really remember that. I know when you got movies from Blockbuster that were no longer on the back wall in the new releases section and sent to the middle, that they put a slip of paper over the Blockbuster logo on the front that said "You'll love it. Guaranteed." or something to that effect.

I saw it here in Rochester, NY at a theater called The Little. It'san "arty" theater downtown.

I'm always afraid I'd go to one of those and then the movie I choose will become a big deal and end up at the regular theaters anyway, therefore taking away some of the art theater experience because it didn't end up being an underappreciated film no one knows about or remembers.

We have a theater that runs less known films but it's in a rundown mall and you have to park in the back so I just find that a little creepy.

I saw this film in the theater at a Sunday afternoon matinee with just myself and about six other people.

Sounds like my kinda viewing! I went to a weeknight showing of Space Jam at an older theater shortly after a new AMC opened up in town. I think there were 5 of us in that room.

It certainly was, and I saw it in the theater on its first weekend (I think) of release. I can't speculate about why Walmart puts makeup in a glass case.
