I have questions myself. On US cable television it was listed as PG-13. It seemed even milder than PG-13. There is no nudity, just a girl in underwear. A sex act is intimated, but only the fully clothed man's face is shown, while the deed is done hidden from view. That act is later a plot point, as is another noisy sex act in a caravan, again not shown explicitly, just backs and facial expressions of the two involved both were used for humor. It would pass US broadcast standards - I can't imagine a Library having any problem with it.
However, when i just bought the dvd, it was listed by the seller as R rated. I have a fear it was caught in the made for England, not intended for the US, trap that has caused other films to get an R rating in the US that wouldn't have if they had been released by a major US studio.
