My goodness, those sound effects!

I was really looking forward to this - but those sound effects made me wince - they are so overpowering that so much of the good stuff is swamped.
In fact the entire audio engineering job on the piece is terrible.
A real shame - what can only be seen as trying too hard has really detracted from fascinating subject.

I dunno. The content was fascinating enough for me to forgo any problems I had with the sound. And the sound problems aren't as prevalent during the interview portions(which were the best part of the doc).

I agree, it was really awkward and unnecessary. I noticed he gave himself equal billing of sound design next to the directing credit.

Mention of WWII? Cue stock gunfire. Something on the drawing board? Cue 30-40 seconds of interminable pen scratching sounds. It was like a bad joke.
