Derailed is intended to be a fun, cheesy action film don’t take it too seriously. O.k. the special effects where bad but the action more than makes up for it. Honestly he’s been in far worse take for example Black Eagle, Maximum Risk and Knock Off.

On a separate note loved In Hell but that CG moth was terrible!

What the hell was that moth/butterfly meant to symbolise anyhow? His character changes after that scene. I don't get it.(it's been a year since i saw it tho).

This never happened to the other fellow!

Whatever it was lol I think it was meant to symbolise his dead wife....er hang on that don't sound right... I think I better watch it again or maybe it’s best not to think about it hehe.

Have to say though I was really surprised with this film I picked it up at Asda expecting it to be rubbish but what a gem! Loved the fight scenes I hope if Kumite ever gets made Van Damme keeps them just as gritty...

Forgot to add....I'm a bit worried now I won an auction on eBay for The Order I just hope it’s not as bad as people say! Hope they do refunds!

I dont think van damme intends to make cheeshy action flicks. why would anyone do that on purpose. Maximum Risk and Knockoff are not as bad as this one.

Derailed is much worse. The Order is at least entertaining because its so bad. This movie is just plain bad.

The Order is mediocre (especially the second half with the stupid sect) but it has a colorful setting, good photography, and the premise is interesting with the manuscript unifying the main monotheist religions...
And it's cool to see Jean-Claude in an adventure movie.

However, Derailed just has abysmal production values.
It's impossible to see beyond them, even if the film is decently paced.
Production design is tasteless and cheap, photography is dull, direction is sometimes fairly dynamic but also has a lot of shoddy moments, and of course the FX.
Oh man, the FX...
For a movie shot in Eastern Europe with a decent budget of 18 millions, it looks like it cost between 4 and 6 to make.

I enjoyed this a lot more than knock off - which I turned off after about an hour and took back to blockbuster.

Rob Schneider's not in this film either which earns it another star in my book.

Replicant was far worse. Danny the Dog with Van Damme in the role of the dog.

Derailed is on the same level as Seagal's DTV output, which is the bottomless pit where legends go to die . It is, without a nary of a doubt, Van Damme's worst film (in a starring role). At least The Order was entertaining in an unintentionally hilarious fashion. For example, the scene where Van Damme drop kicks a guy while yelling "Shalom!", or Heston's hilariously bad death scene. It was bad, but it was also funny. This film is just dull and bad with SFX that could've been made in someone's basement/backyard. Van Damme has gone on record commenting how he truly regretted making this one.

Luckily, he's had somewhat of a late career renaissance. His DTV films have improved, and he's had some mainstream exposure.

I used to not like this one but I rewatched and enjoyed,some movies get better when you watch a second time. To the OP I think both are good and about the same I don't think one is worse than the other

Derailed; no contest. The Order is actually a fun movie. Derailed is a pathetic film.
