Not necessarily, the fact that Rabbit was comparing Papa Doc to some kind of "Mrs." was easy enough to understand even if they never watched the show.

You're being ignorant.

1. Eddie Haskell and the Cleaver's are classic pop culture icons. They're about as recognizable as Bugs Bunny and Fred Flintstone.

2. The young adults in this movie would have been born and grown up in the 1970's, at a time when there was a lot less variety with television, and cable was in its formative years. Leave it to Beaver would have only been 20 years old then (our '90s). Anyone in that building who didn't get the reference would have to have been living under a rock.
