a movie about how everyone thinks teenagers act and think, a total *beep* cliche and waste of my time. the acting is *beep* awful, this movie actually offended me.
ohhh, life is so hard because no one understands me, and i'm so different, and teenagers today have it soooooo hard, waahh.
You know, I used to be very like-minded. I used to roll my eyes and nearly laugh at all the people, namely young people, who felt so withdrawn and isolated and who wanted to make it known.
Circumstances that arose within my own family, however, completely changed my outlook. Think about it. Why would you laugh at someone for feeling so down? Why is what another person feels excluded and deemed ridiculous or not important? Because they're young? Because their problems are also many others' problems? That is absolutely a repulsive way to think.
Whine about how "cliche" it is and mock the people who feel such indescribable suffering. It will take something that you wish it didn't have to for that wall to come down in your mind. I don't wish that on you, not in the least, but just because you do not empathize and understand someone else's situation does not make their state any less important or valid.
This movie sucks because it doesn't accurately portray how teenagers feel and what they go through. All the reasons she killed herself in the movie were NOTHING! She had a fight with her friend, she uses drugs, her boyfriend doesn't love her. I've seen people go through so much more than that, and come out fighting. The writing in this movie sucks, the acting sucks, and the direction sucks. This movie makes people with actual problems look bad, because it makes it seem as if everyone's problems are as minimal as "poor, little" Silver Strand. This movie is a *beep* disgrace.
Filmmaking? So we're talking about filmmaking now? I know a lot about filmmaking. Whether it be the old movies of Midnight Cowboy, or the newer Academy award winning films like American Beauty, I've seen a lot of films and I know that it takes a stunning combination of qualities to make a movie work. One of which is accuracy and realism. Movies can even be amazing even if they don't have a direct sense of reality. Take Battle Royale for example. That movie holds a scenario that we most likely would never see happen in this reality, but it works and the result is superb. But when I said this movie sucks I was talking about how the story is inaccurate and very diminishing. But YOU obviously want to talk about good filmmaking instead of good plot. Let's see, to make a good film you need good actors (this movie's acting is abysmal), you need good direction (this movie didn't have it), a great script (14 year old girl kills herself and ends up in purgatory... this has potential), good writing (this is where the script goes to hell), and an underlying message (the girl killed herself because she wanted unconditional love, she doesn't want you to make the same mistake. I guess that would mean that EVERY normal 14 year old girl gets this message, because that's what Silver was... she was EVERY NORMAL 14-YEAR OLD GIRL! Her problems were nothing special. So while all the normal 14 year old girls are not killing themselves because they got the message, the ones with REAL problems aren't being addressed, simply mocked.) This is a bad film no matter what it TRIES to accomplish.
Did I ever say you needed A-List actors? No. Duh, all teenagers have problems. This film takes the serious subject of suicide and mocks those that have had devastating problems. I know all about the puzzle (yes, puzzle, not puzzel) and this film was broken into a three-piece puzzle at most.
