Can anyone tell me why they hate this movie? Please let it be a good reason. What Celeste Davis went through is actually real, I should know...I know her...but that's irrelevant...so can you tell why this movie is so bad?
Well she was only 14 or so when she wrote the thing and the only reason they made a movie about it was because her dad works with Warner Brothers...I saw the movie, I agree.
It takes a variety of serious subjects and places them into this fantacy story, while sending a strong message that most 'teenagers' et al can relate to etc.
Some don't "get it" but; Hey, that's their problem.
Actually it does make them into a joke. It makes them into a joke by taking them and diminishing them. I watch this and I say, "wow, they really make her problems look so minimal? That's her justification for what she did?" There are a lot of people who don't recognize the problems of the youth, or any troubled people for that matter. They'll watch this film and say the same thing I did and look down upon anyone who goes through any real problems because this film poorly portrayed the suffering.
The character she created "Silver Strand" (by name) is a delicate/frail thing, deserving of recognition by others/family/friends.
Hence the tag line; "Can you see me"??
ALL 'teenagers' have problems, as to children and adults. The purpose of the film is to show that these can have disasterious results, if NOT seen in advance
This was the purpose of the 'classroom scene' too.
NOWHERE does it "put them down"; but shows instead (overall) some of the possible results etc.
The username says David for a reason. Also, my saying that I've seen this subject done better in other films was never my reason for why this movie isn't good, it was a reply to your comment. Get it right.
And you saying it's a good movie is just your opinion. Everyone I know who has seen this movie has hated it. If there's no good reason as to why this is a bad movie then there is no good reason as to why it's a good movie. The negatives of the film heavily outweigh positives.
Hey Buffy, I am diagnosed with anxiety disorder, depression, and social phobia disorder. I see a counselor and psychiatrist to help me with this. I've been through depression. I've had anxiety since I was a kid. I developed agoraphobia and was unable to leave my house or socialize. I know what depression is like, and the things it does which is why I hate this movie. This movie is a mockery. Don't *beep* tell me to go through depression and come back; I've been there, I'm still struggling with it, and I know a hell of a lot more than you or this dumbass bitch that wrote this screenplay. Maybe you should go through severe depression, isolation, and anxiety and watch the movie again. See how it makes you feel.
