I will have to say the Super Mario franchise because he turn the Video Game industry into what it is today.So many great games like Mario 64,Mario Sunshine,Mario Bros Trilogy and Mario World.A lot of people say ZELDA,Final Fantasy or other VG Franchises are the best but mario started it all.

Maybe thats true, but at the end of the day its games like Metroid, and ...... as much as I hate to say it...Zelda and Final Fantasy which has shaped the gaming industry, people have viewed how they are played and are then incorparated into other games.
Mario may of started it all off, and it may of pioneered the gaming industry. But it could only go so far, and other games took off where it left off. Mario did so much work, and the other series have taken us this far. Mario you think may of done a lot of work - but in all seriousness... It hasn't.

the thing is is that mario had another shall i say "Assistant" and truly i beleive that that is the Legend of Zelda and that game sould truly be honored. but i do not know its a challange what the best princess rescue sortta game is. either Mario Or thee Legend of Zelda. you know not just mario started the nintendo Comp, Zelda was the right hand game.

But Mario sunshine wasn't really any better than Mario 64 and they are milking Mario way to much with mario kart, mario party, mario tennis, mario golf, mario strikers, mario baseball, etc. Mario isn't the king anymore.

If I were to name the best franchises in video games, I would say Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Resident Evil, Metal Gear, and Grand Theft Auto.
If the revolution won't be televised I'll probably miss it.
