Raymond and Cathy

I love films set during this time period, and I like issues that the director was focusing on. However, I did not believe the romance between Raymond and Cathy. I know that Julianne was playing an unhappy suburban housewife, but I didn't think her jump from Frank to Raymond was credible. He was kind and sensitive, plus she knew his father, but the romance seemed a bit jarring. Maybe because the film was tackling two issues homosexuality and interracial romance that one seemed to overshadow the other.Perhaps if the film was solely about the romance , we saw it grow and the backlash which was inevitable, it might have been more believable. Dennis Haysbert had previously starred in Love Field with Michelle Pfeiffer and I found the romance less far fetched.
