meek, demure daughter

I've seen this film several times and more and more I notice that Frank and Cathy's daughter is always interrupted when she tries to add to the conversation, or dismissed when she tries to display a ballet movement or whatever she's proud of. Yet she doesn't react in a negative way when her entire family completely ignores her, she simply remains quiet and says no more.

Let's say she was about 10 (or so) when this film takes place, now she's a woman in her early 60's. What sort of woman are you now? Did you find a voice?

Took place in the 50's. Wowen "knew their place" then. I am in my early 60's now, but never acted like that. I was raised by a couple of strong woman (mother and grandmoher) and knew from an early age that NOBODY would put me down because I was a girl or a woman later.
