I felt she may have fell for him but not enough to actually be with him. He was right to just let it be. I also don't think as some that she had really fell in love with him yes liked and admired, but not really love. The same with him. As time past there love may have grown just do to absence and maybe in time they would give one another a try.

Yeah I was surprised to read all these reviews where its implied she fell for the gardener.The way I saw it she was a vulnerable wreck who felt so alone & he was there.So naturally her feelings for him would be heightened but that doesnt mean they were genuine.He could have been anyone she was just desperate for someone that would listen
