gore without the wincing?

For some reason I was expecting an incredibly brutal movie...something along the lines of maybe Hostel but with no hangups about the gore. but for some reason this movie didn't do really anything for me. I don't really judge or even care that much about acting skills, but some of the acting was so poor it actually made the gore scenes utterly unconvincing. This is a movie you can watch while you eat....not a very good sign for a movie with consistent brutal mutilations & decapitations. They should have seriously played up the comedy part to make up for the unconvincing gore part..but the laughs were not with the movie but AT the movie.
