Anyone know if there is ANY connection to MST3K

I'm familiar with Space Ghost, and I know Brak and Zorak are from that show and that Joel Hodgson (creator of MST3K) was on the show once and...well, is there any connection with "Brak" and "Brack" from This Island Earth (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047577/combined-which was riffed on in Mystery Science Theatre: The Movie)? I mean, other than that the names are practically identical...obviously.

Okay, basically I'm asking if the name is based or influenced by the movie alien.

I was curious about that myself when I first heard about this show, which I adore as much as the MST3K movie. For anyone curious, the connection we're wondering about is from one of the lines called out by Mike/the robots when Brack, a character from "This Island Earth", is watching a TV screen or some such thing. (Been a while since I last saw it.) "It's the Brack Show, starring me, I'm Brack! It's the Brack Show, and I've got lots of good guests, duh-nuh-nuh-nah..." I sort of doubt it, but then again those quirky fookers who make the cartoon are probably fans of MST3K--I find the humor similar--so who knows.

This Island Earth came out in 1955, and had a character named Brack. The original Space Ghost came out in 1966 and had Brak. Maybe one was named after the other, but probably it's a coincidence between the two things needing alien-sounding names.

I think it's a coincidence but the first thing I thought of when I saw the title was "Hey... MST3K : The Movie!"

I don't think it's a coincidence. Joel Hogson wrote an episode of Space Ghost Coast to Coast back in 1995. He also made an appearance as a guest in a later episode. Then when the DVDs came out they brought him back for commentary. So the guys at Williams Street are most likely MST3K fans. Which would mean that the title Brak Presents the Brak Show Starring Brak is probably a reference to that line from the MST3K movie.
