Just don't find this funny, at all.

I'm a fan of a wide variety of tv comedy...

The vanguard of comedic excellence and sophistication (or just plain artistic bravery) over the past 25 years:

- The Simpsons (S2-S9), Kids in the Hall, Arrested Development, Mr. Show, 30 Rock, Louie, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!, Community.

The middleground, workman-like shows capable of providing, at the very least, great stories, occasional brilliance and steady laughs:

- South Park, The Office, Archer, The League, Bob's Burgers, Enlightened, Party Down, Parks and Recreation, King of the Hill, Futurama, etc.

And then there are the shows I'll watch at someone's house because it's not my place to turn the channel:

- I'm generally not a fan of modern laugh-track multi-camera sitcoms, because at this point in our evolution they fundamentally serve as physiological cues for mentally retarded people, or simply the overworked folks without the energy to think and laugh simultaneously (The Big bang Theory, Two and a half men, etc.), or 'modern' family sitcoms whose rip-and-repeat (heart / laughs) approach might as well have a laugh-track: Modern Family, Go On. Or those who are trying WAY too hard to be 'edgy': Legit, Flight of the Concords. But I'll still, like, watch them without much complaint and will laugh a few times.

Then there are the shows I simply do not find funny. Like, not at all. I think I must not get them. Someone explain to me what I'm missing in the following shows:

Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Wondershowzen, Crank Yankers, Mind of Mencia, The Sarah Silverman Program, Reno 911, Robot Chicken, Frankenhole.

Thx!

I think something Wondershowzen and Aqua Teen share at least is just a nihilistic joy in knowing everything is *beep* realizing that, letting it go and then looking at the joy in it.. kinda like the Dada movement, with fart jokes.

..or maybe not lol http://www.SunbeltRyders.com

That makes sense. I mean I like Tim and Eric alot, they make me laugh hysterically (check out their 'child clown outlet' ads on youtube), and their humour is similarily based on Dadaist absurdity and surrealism.

I think in the case of ATHF it might be the voices of the characters, which I find pretty grating.

Giving his opinion....?

What are you, asking me?

reply

Ugh, please don't lump Aqua Teen in with Mind of Mencia.

The Office sucks.. and why'd you even mention Crank Yankers? That show hasn't been on TV in like 10 years

Push the envelope, watch it bend

I watch ATHF before I go to bed every night. I have a few laughs over pointless stuff and it reminds me that life is pretty stupid and meaningless, which I find comforting.
