Time Warner pun

I was watching the episode where Shake causes a nuclear holocaust to make the world replicate the times of the Flintstones and a time traveler appears who calls himself the Time Warner, a person who warns others of how he owns the concept of time traveler. I thought that pun was hilarious since the company that owns Adult Swim is called Time Warner. Did anyone else get the reference?

I've wanted to know more about that reference since I first saw the episode. The digs at Time Warner telling people to "cease and desist" made me wonder if there was some behind-the-scenes dispute about parodying the Flintstones. But I can't find anything about it online, and I don't think they'd send a cease and desist letter to one of the companies they own. I guess it's just going to keep bugging me.

They did sell the rights to Fox and Seth MacFarlane to parody the Flintstones, so I doubt they would make a big deal about it being parodied on ATHF. It could just be a joke about the Time Warner company going after people who rip off their ideas or shows.
