It's very unlikely. Unfortunately, most actors in "gay films" are usually not gay.
shareI don't get the obsession of trying to find out if a guy who plays a gay character is gay himself. Does it really matter? If he is, and he's not out, he's not out for a reason. It's not our place to out someone - if you're gay, what would it have been like (or what was it like) you being outed or having your sexuality discussed by many!
shareIt matters inasmuch as successful "out" straight actors as potential role-models are abundant, but successful out gay actors as potential role-models are much harder to find. The hardest part for a lot of closeted gay young people is isolation, feeling like they're "the only one," and the best way to overturn that is for other gay people- ideally successful ones- to be visible.
Just try a simple thought experiment: imagine that the majority of the population was gay instead of straight, and that everywhere you looked in society you were inundated with gay imagery-- other than a few "token straight" characters/shows in the media (who are mostly presented as stereotypical caricatures), hour after hour, channel after channel, movie after movie, all you saw was gay-this and gay-that, and all the entertainment magazines and trashy tabloid TV and Hollywood features on the news were about gay stars and their relationships. Now imagine that you see a movie that has a straight girl character in it that you find really hot, and her character is admirable. Wouldn't you be curious and want to know if she was "like you" and maybe even (however unlikely) at least oriented the right way that if you ever met her you might have a shot at some kind of relationship with her?
