Why don't they ever show the big ass crack in the side?

I assume you are refering to the tear from the iceberg? That crack lies beneath the ocean floor and can't be seen without digging.

It was my understanding that they were more interested in the interior of the Titanic. Seeing things that had not been seen since before the sinking.

I could be wrong, though ::shrugs shoulders::
