Look people, we don't care how it happened in the book.

The first one was better and that's all there is to it. Don't forget that a book is written given the fact that the reader is not watching a movie, but instead reading written word. It's a totally different presentation. The 2nd movie was crap. It's painfully obvious by the comments on this board. It's just sad that they were allowed to disgrace the first movie like they did. I'm sure if you asked the cast of the first movie, they'd all agree. This was a crap remake.

This wasn't a remake, but a sequel, and while my taste in films may be somewhat unique, I happened to like this one, Ive no idea why, but I thought it was interesting to see Charlie grown up, and the idea of having Rainbird back was a a cool plot twist. Sue it didn't follow the original sources but there are worse sequels out there.

I see this as more of a fanfiction kind of twist. I haven't seen the original film or read the book, but I will. It seemed to me that they took like ideas from the book and twistet them a bit and made another plot for the future. I thought the film was good actually, and I will watch Firestarter. I mainly watched it because of Malcolm, and I think the film would be pretty boring if he wasn't in it (he always makes bad films more interesting). A bit too long as a whole, should have been edited into one shorter film as I found some scenes a bit too long and boring. Might not watch it over and over, but I didn't feel that I wasted any time on this like some other films I have seen by Malcolm (because he has been in a lot of c*ap). I have also seen pretty bad films in general, not nessesarilly a remake/sequel, of course.

This would have been fine as a whole different movie. But having the original attached to it brought higher expectations for me personally. They barely remained true to it! Only by the character's names. Andy's death scene was completely changed, as was Charlie's use of her power. (I guess it does make sense that it could happen so easily after awhile, but still.)

Just a crappy, crappy movie.
